Neighbors say they rarely saw the guy but never suspected he was a drug dealer.

Has it really been 11 years since the night Mike Tyson grossed everyone out by biting his opponents ear during a fight? Well now we have news that will refresh our disgust.

A guy in Iowa got mad at his friend and bit his nose off. Off.

The victim started it by hitting the biter with a shovel. Then, biter jumped at him and took his nose and part of his lip.

The nose was not recovered but police say Merrival didn’t think he swallowed it.
“I don’t know if he swallowed it or if my dogs might have eaten it, I don’t know,” Osing said

A South Jersey woman is suing her doctor for leaving a temporary tattoo on her while she was sedated. He apparently does this routinely, to make his patients “feel better”.

People Really Don’t Like To Be Told About Walking

There is a useful piece on philly.com today way down at the bottom of the page about car-free living. True, most of it is common sense, but there is a certain public service feeling to reminding people that you don’t always have to consume, consume, consume.

The best part is, of course, the comments section where people are quite upset that the subject has been given attention. Best one:

There is a reflection of our celebrity obsessed society today on philly.com. The front page boasts a huge photo of a network anchor who has been fired and is now officially a criminal, while virtually ignoring the actual news of the day. A fire in a SEPTA tunnel? News about a murder victim? What about the one liner that reads “Passenger jumps from car on I-295 to escape D.U.I driver”? Now that looks worthy of attention. But, no, we are left with Larry Mendte’s giant head.

The Parkway To Be Improved

Millions of dollars were committed yesterday to improve the Ben Franklin Parkway. New garbage cans, benches and curbs will be added. Green spaces will be rehabbed and bike lanes will be added. The parkway “is emerging as one of the great pedestrian places in Center City, not only for visitors but for all of us who live here.”

It’s still so far away for most people. Will more trash cans motivate anyone to walk all the way out there?

The BSP Could Be Dwarfed!

A meeting in Center City last night to discuss a proposal by Walnut Street Capital to build the new tallest building in Philadelphia was polarized by two groups of people. Typical of these types of projects, one group was for it, one against. The difference here, according to Philly.com was that the group was clearly separated by age.

Older neighbors in high-rises just south of the site opposed the size and scale of the building. Younger neighbors in lofts just north of the site said they found the design exciting and new.

Interesting. It gets me to wondering if we need another “modern marvel”. What are the occupancy rates at the other four huge buildings? Is Philadelphia hurting for more office space?

What Happened To Regina Medina?

Our favorite Bonnie and Clyde ~~stalker~~ reporter Regina Medina has dropped the ball. This is the second article NOT written by her!

In the latest installment of the saga, we learn from Regina’s capable replacement that Bonnie has pleaded guilty and is mentally ill. In addition, Emilie Lounsberry also gives a thorough physical description.

Kirsch, 22, appeared pale and drawn in court – much different than the attractive young woman given to revealing outfits, as seen in photos that hit the Internet after her arrest. She was dressed in a wrinkled, dark-green prison jumpsuit and Navy canvas flats, and was without makeup, hair extensions, or her trademark lavender contacts.

“Guilty,” Kirsch said in a barely audible voice when the court clerk asked how she would plead to the charges: conspiracy, access-device fraud, bank fraud, money laundering, and two counts of aggravated identity theft.

Two teenagers in Massachusetts are using the carcasses of cicadas as jewelry. Can you imagine hanging a dead bug from your ear?

Katheryn Maloney and Brady Cullinan are selling jewelry made out of the cicadas that swarmed their town of Sandwich this summer.

The pair charges $10 for earrings or necklaces made out of the bugs’ lacquered carcasses.
